Show site changes explained:

Following more than a decade at the 505 building in Plymouth (Hwy 169 & Hwy 55), the venue for the Muscle Car Classic has changed each year since 2010.  As the show is again changing locales this year, we wanted to explain why to our loyal participants and all who attend the show.

For reference, below is the progression of venue changes for the past 4 years:

2009 – 505 building, Plymouth
2010 – AutoMotorPlex, Chanhassen
2011 – 7500 Flying Cloud Drive , Eden Prairie
2012 – Arrow Buick GMC, Inver Grove Heights

2009 - At 505, the property management informed us of their plan to make structural improvements/repairs to the parking lot; however, the door was left open for us to return once they were completed.

2010 - We sought an opportunity to gain greater exposure for the show and were offered an opportunity to hold the show at AutoMotorPlex for 2010. While nothing less than a first class facility, the AutoMotorPlex layout presented challenges for our type of show and it was decided that either the 505 location or one similar be located.

2011 - As 505 was still not completed with their ramp maintenance, we were fortunate to locate the 7500 Flying Cloud Drive site and convince them to allow us to host the show for 2011.

2012 - Due to overwhelmingly positive feedback on Flying Cloud Drive site, we again approached the management company/owners to secure the location for 2012. Even with glowing reports from the management company, the out-of-state owners of the building showed little interest and demanded a substantial sum of money to even consider the use of the site again.

We continued our efforts about town, contacting large corporations and / or anyone with a centralized location suitable to run a car show without much interest. It seems that corporations now view such events as liabilities when not directly tied to the corporation. This appears to be true of the 505 location now also.

An offer to host our show at Arrow Buick GMC (formerly Pontiac also) was a welcome option. With terrific support and eager anticipation, Arrow has all but given us the key to the dealership in order to host our 2012 Show.

We're looking forward to some neat opportinities for adding value to the Muscle Car Classic at this location and we are counting the days until we open the gates on August 5th, 2012. See you there!
